A Kingfisher at Kingswood Close, Firbeck (David Wright). 23rd August At Axle Lane today, the first Golden Plover returned as well as 67 Swallow and 45 House Martin >S (Mick Clay). 22nd August At Dinnington Marsh, an ad Hobby >NE (Mick Clay). 21st August Early morning at Axle Lane were 27 Carrion Crow, 3 Yellow Wagtail, 26 Swallow >S and 39 Lapwing >W (Mick Clay). 20th August Early morning at Hodsock failed to produce Wood Sandpiper, however Green Sandpiper >W and Hobby >S. Also around were 25+ Yellow Wagtail, mostly juv's, 18 Mallard, 15 Tree Sparrow, 2 Green Woodpecker, c100 Swallow, 3 House Martin and a Sand Martin (Andy Hirst). Hodsock Flash produced Greenshank and 3 Snipe (John Gallagher). 10th August At Dinnington Marsh today were Lesser Whitethroat, 7 Willow Warbler, 2 Willow Tit, 4 Bullfinch and 2 Tree Sparrow. At NAPT were 3 Reed Warbler, Blackcap, 3 Chiffchaff, Willow Tit, 2 Kestrel and Buzzard (Mick Clay). 9th August At Axle Lane this morning were 23 Reed Bunting (mainly juv's), 6 Yellow Wagtail and Corn Bunting (Mick Clay).

Late evening produced a m Wheatear on the main path (Mick Clay). 5th August At Hodsock today were Greenshank, 13 Lapwing, Snipe, 6 Yellow Wagtail, 10 Pied Wagtail, 400 Starling, Green Woodpecker, 10 Skylark, 10 Tree Sparrow and a Little Grebe. 3rd August Early morning at NAPT produced Merlin >S, 2 Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, 2 Reed Warbler and Little Grebe. At Dinnington Marsh were 14 Willow Warbler, 2 Willow Tit, 7 Bullfinch, Buzzard, Kestrel and 2 Sparrowhawk (1f & 1Juv.) (Mick Clay). 29th July At NAPT a juv. Little Grebe on the main pond and what appeared to be a Buzzard carrying a Grass Snake, plus 1 Black-tailed Skimmer. In a cut grass field at Dinnington Marsh were 72 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 Common Gull, 5 Black-headed Gull and 4 Bullfinch. Plus Ringed Plover >S & Curlew >W which may have landed on Brampton (Mick Clay). 28th July Insect News- At NAPT 2m and 1f Black-tailed Skimmers (Mick Clay). 21st July At NAPT this morning were 58 Lapwing, Black-tailed Godwit, Whimbrel, Little Ringed Plover calling, 8 Reed Warbler, 13 Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap, 5 Chiffchaff, 2 Willow Warbler, 3 Willow Tit and 3 Song Thrush. Over a South Anston garden were 4 Buzzard and Sparrowhawk (Mick Clay). At NAPT a Golden Plover over. At Langold Lake were 2ad. & 3juv. Sadly an imm bird had to be taken in to care and subsequently put to sleep having gone over the weir for a second time, badly breaking it's wing. A sad end to magnificent bird. Also here were 2 pairs of Gadwall. A pair of Gadwall at Hodsock, plus 2m and 1f Yellow Wagtail, c10 Pied Wagtail, c40 Swallow and 3 Meadow Pipit. Carlton Lake held 6 Coot, 2 Great Crested Grebe, Greylag Goose, and a pair of Tufted Duck. Lake today were 2 Pochard, 10 Tufted Duck,
20 Mallard, 6 Mute Swan, 40 Black-headed
Gull, Common Gull, 20 Coot, 20 Canada
Goose, 12 Siskin, 10 Greenfinch,
8 Lesser Redpoll, 30 Fieldfare, 4 Moorhen,
Buzzard, 2 Great Crested Grebe and a Nuthatch
(Alan & Pauline Bradford). 14th January Male Mandarin on the Chesterfield Canal between Shireoaks and Turnerwood (Chris Lilley). 10th January At Langold Lake today were 79 Coot, 45 Mallard, 31 Tufted Duck, 5 Pochard, 12 Gadwall, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 6 Mute Swan & a Water Rail. At Hodsock were c30 Pied Wagtail, c25 Meadow Pipit and 15 Linnet. At Netherthorpe 8 Lapwing flew over, with 3 Buzzard at Top Locks (Brian Chambers).

walk from South Anston to Turnerwood produced 33 Long-tailed Tit,
26 Blue Tit, Marsh Tit,16 Great Tit,
2 Treecreeper, 6 Nuthatch, 30 Chaffinch,
Great Spotted Woodpecker, Little Grebe,
2 Buzzard, 2 Tree Sparrow, Grey Wagtail,
2 Goldcrest and 161 Fieldfare. At Moses
Seat, Marsh Tit, f Sparrowhawk and at Anston
Grange Farm were 3 Buzzard and Grey Wagtail (Mick
Clay). At Kiveton Waters today were Kingfisher, Woodcock,
Heron, 2 Kestrel & 2 Snipe (John
Gallagher).
Water Rail @ Langold Lake © John Gallagher 30th December At the Butterfly House this morning were 4 Carrion Crow, 8 Blackbird, 9 Chaffinch, 4 Robin, 10 Jackdaw, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 12 Blue Tit, 10 House Sparrow, 20 Tree Sparrow and Kestrel. At Dewidales were 4 Blackbird, 3 Pied Wagtail, and Kestrel (Chris Lilley). 21st December

The SK58 walk produced m Gadwall at Firbeck, Marsh

a Pink-footed Goose, 15 Mallard, 2 Mute

Lane today were 600 Golden Plover, 39 Black-headed
Gull and a Common Gull. At Penny Piece a Buzzard
(Mick Clay). At Carr, m Merlin flew towards
Lingodell (John O'Malley). 14th December
Circa 150-200 Fieldfare on Lindrick Golf Course near
the 1st tee around 13:00 (Sheila Newsome & Ruth Brown). 12th December c30 House Sparrow back in a Throapham garden for a week now (Andy Hirst). 11th December
At Axle Lane were 400 Golden Plover. Roche Abbey held
3 Mistle Thrush, 40 Siskin, 12 Goldfinch,
3 Lesser Redpoll and 2 Woodcock. Langold
Lake produced 35 Siskin, 2 Lesser Redpoll,
35 Goldfinch, Sparrowhawk and 7 (6m, 1f)
Pochard (John Gallagher). Also here were c100 Coot,
6 Moorhen, c25 Tufted Duck, 10 Mallard,
c50 Canada Geese, c20 Black-headed Gull,
Buzzard, 6 Great Tit, 7 Blackbird,
8 Reed Bunting, c20 Gadwall, 6 Mute
Swan (2ad, 4 juv.) & Heron. Carlton Lake held
c25 Black-headed Gull, 5 Fieldfare, 2 Redwing,
10 Coot, 15 Mallard & a Sparrowhawk.
At Brown Bailey's were 5 Black-headed Gull, 25 Tufted
Duck, 30 Mallard & 10 Coot.
Whilst NAPT produced 6 Black-headed Gull, 15 Goldfinch,
20 Jackdaw, 5 Rook, 8 Redwing and
20 Blackbird (Paul Rigg). 10th December Reed Bunting in a Kiveton Garden (Alan Bateman). At Axle Lane today were 170 Golden Plover, 50 Pink-footed Geese >E, distant skein of 80 Grey Geese >E, and a further 70 distant Grey Geese in a skein >E. Langold Lake held a Water Rail on the top island (Mick
Clay). Kingfisher also at Langold Lake and another
at Carlton Lake (John Gallagher). 1st December Lesser Spotted Woodpecker briefly at Colonel's Holt this afternoon (Andy Hirst).
