30th December At the Butterfly House this morning were 4 Carrion Crow, 8 Blackbird, 9 Chaffinch, 4 Robin, 10 Jackdaw, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 12 Blue Tit, 10 House Sparrow, 20 Tree Sparrow and Kestrel. At Dewidales were 4 Blackbird, 3 Pied Wagtail, and Kestrel (Chris Lilley).

21st December 3 Goldcrests yesterday and one today Kiveton Pit Top (Alan Bateman).

29th December At Manor Farm, Slade Hooton a f Merlin hunting game cover (John Gallagher).

28th December The SK58 walk produced m Gadwall at Firbeck, Marsh Tit, Siskin, 3 Greylag Geese and a Pink-footed Goose, 15 Mallard, 2 Mute Swan, 4 Tufted Duck and c25 Fieldfare. 6 Buzzard by Kings Wood and 2 Teal, 18 Mallard at Roche Abbey (John Gallagher, Andy Murray, Mick Clay, Andy Hirst & Chris Lilley ).

17th December At Axle Lane today were 600 Golden Plover, 39 Black-headed Gull and a Common Gull. At Penny Piece a Buzzard (Mick Clay). At Carr, m Merlin flew towards Lingodell (John O'Malley).

14th December Circa 150-200 Fieldfare on Lindrick Golf Course near the 1st tee around 13:00 (Sheila Newsome & Ruth Brown).

12th December c30 House Sparrow back in a Throapham garden for a week now (Andy Hirst).

11th December At Axle Lane were 400 Golden Plover. Roche Abbey held 3 Mistle Thrush, 40 Siskin, 12 Goldfinch, 3 Lesser Redpoll and 2 Woodcock. Langold Lake produced 35 Siskin, 2 Lesser Redpoll, 35 Goldfinch, Sparrowhawk and 7 (6m, 1f) Pochard (John Gallagher). Also here were c100 Coot, 6 Moorhen, c25 Tufted Duck, 10 Mallard, c50 Canada Geese, c20 Black-headed Gull, Buzzard, 6 Great Tit, 7 Blackbird, 8 Reed Bunting, c20 Gadwall, 6 Mute Swan (2ad, 4 juv.) & Heron. Carlton Lake held c25 Black-headed Gull, 5 Fieldfare, 2 Redwing, 10 Coot, 15 Mallard & a Sparrowhawk. At Brown Bailey's were 5 Black-headed Gull, 25 Tufted Duck, 30 Mallard & 10 Coot. 10th December Reed Bunting in a Kiveton Garden (Alan Bateman). At Axle Lane today were 170 Golden Plover, 50 Pink-footed Geese >E, distant skein of 80 Grey Geese >E, and a further 70 distant Grey Geese in a skein >E. At Roche Abbey were 2 Woodcock, 5 Marsh Tit, 6 Bullfinch, 11 Goldcrest, Little Grebe, 12 Teal, 24 Mallard and 7 Nuthatch (John Gallagher).

9th December Langold Lake held a Water Rail on the top island (Mick Clay). Kingfisher also at Langold Lake and another at Carlton Lake (John Gallagher).

1st December Lesser Spotted Woodpecker briefly at Colonel's Holt this afternoon (Andy Hirst).

30th November A walk from Slade Hills to Roche Abbey, via Kings Wood produced 4 Buzzard at Slade Hills plus several Reed Bunting in game cover & Lesser Redpoll. Kings Wood produced 3 Roe Deer, 2 Jay, 8 Siskin, 10 Buzzard, 4 Nuthatch in tit flock, 15 Blackbird, 40 Long-tailed Tit, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Tawny Owl, 4 Treecreeper, 8 Goldcrest, 23 Greenfinch 2 Bullfinch and a m Sparrowhawk. The highlight was a f Lesser Spotted Woodpecker at Colonel's Holt, plus Marsh Tit, 21 Mallard, 3 Teal and Moorhen at Roche Abbey (Andy Hirst).

At Kiveton Woodlands today were 3 Robin, 7 Magpie, 4 Jackdaw, c20 Blackbird, Green Woodpecker, 5 Moorhen, 2 Kestrel together and one seen further away. 5 Goldfinch, Chaffinch, f Bullfinch, Sparrowhawk, Cormorant >S towards Harthill, 10 Mallard, 10 Starling, 10 Redwing, 12 Fieldfare, m Pheasant, mixed flock of Blue Tit and Great Tit, 2 Mute Swan and a Grey Heron (Paul Rigg).

28th November Around Kiveton Pit Top today were 10 Tree Sparrow, 2 Jay, 6 Magpie, 2 Kestrel, 10 Grey Partridge, 10 Lapwing, 20 Goldfinch and 4 Bullfinch (Darren Carnall). Along Rackford Lane today were 12 House Sparrow, 16 Chaffinch and 2 Jay. In Lindrick Dale were 2 Little Grebe, 21 Mallard and 4 Coot. At Turnerwood were 26 Mallard, 2 Mute Swan, 12 Siskin (Chris Lilley).

27th November Highlights at Langold Lake this morning were 3ad. and 4 juv. Mute Swan- we heard the 5th juv. Mute Swan was taken into care but later died as a result of an infection to it's beak. A third adult has appeared, but is harassed by the resident pair. Male Shoveler still plus, 2 pairs of Wigeon, m Pochard, 75 Gadwall, 40 Tufted Duck and Little Grebe. From Kings Wood corner were 7 Buzzard, 2 Nuthatch, Kestrel, 4 Common Gull, 2 Cormorant >SE and the highlight a juv. f Hen Harrier, quartering game cover- has apparently been around since Thursday (Andy Hirst). Still present at 15:00 (John Gallagher & Mick Clay). Along the Chesterfield Canal today were 2 Moorhen, Chaffinch, 4 Black-headed Gull, Sparrowhawk, c15 Redwing, Kestrel & 6 Long-tailed Tit (Paul Rigg).

26th November Around Kings Wood were 2 Nuthatch, 19 Long-tailed Tit, 3 Goldcrest, 6 Buzzard, 10 Mallard, Yellowhammer, 70 Fieldfare, imm. Cormorant >N and 2 Tree Sparrow (Andy Hirst).

25th November At Lingodell today were 26 Black-headed Gull, 5 Yellowhammer, 45 Fieldfare, 2 Heron, Sparrowhawk, 2 Cormorant & 31 Pied Wagtail. Firbeck Hall held a single Pink-footed Goose. Carlton Lake produced a f Goosander (John Gallagher).

21st November Shoveler and Pochard still present at Langold Lake today (Paul Rigg).

19th November Around Kiveton Woodlands today were Green Woodpecker, 8 Mallard, 7 Long-tailed Tit, 2 Black-headed Gull, 2 Carrion Crow, 8 Jackdaw, Moorhen, 10 Fieldfare, c20 Goldfinch, 2 Kestrel, Buzzard & 4 Magpie (Paul Rigg). At Thurcroft Pit Top today were Willow Tit, 40 Fieldfare and Redwing, 27 Grey Partridge, 6 Skylark, 11 Reed Bunting, and 3 Kestrel. At Kings Wood corner were 7 Buzzard, and 2 Sparrowhawk. Shoveler m still at Langold Lake, plus Pochard and 7 Wigeon (4m 3f) (Andy Hirst & Mick Clay).

18th November 10 Lesser Redpoll at Kiveton Pit Top plus Kingfisher (Alan Bateman). Plus 10 Tree Sparrow, 2 Kestrel, 3 Grey Partridge, 40 Black-headed Gull and Buzzard with prey (Darren Carnall).

Goldeneye @ Brown Bailey's © John Gallagher 13th November The SK58 Wildfowl count produced: Roche Abbey-6 Teal, 2 pairs of Mallard and a Little Grebe. Lingodell held a pair of Wigeon, 7 Mallard and Heron. At Firbeck were 18 Mallard, 6 Coot, Little Grebe, a pair of Tufted Duck, 2 Mute Swan, and Moorhen.

Lots of wildfowl at Langold Lake today including 23 Tufted Duck, 2m and 1f Wigeon, 47 Mallard, 78 Coot, 6 Mute Swan, 110 Gadwall, 7 Great Crested Grebe, and 362 Canada Geese. Nearby Langold Holt held 5 Teal. Brown Bailey's produced 20 Tufted Duck, 9 Coot, 4 Mallard and f Goldeneye. At Hewett Arms Pond were 25 Mallard and 3 Heron (Andy Hirst, Mick Clay, Brian Chambers, Alan Bradford, Paul Rigg, Andy Murray and Chris Lilley). At Kiveton Woodlands today were 2 Black-headed Gull, 6 Moorhen and 3 Coot. Along the Chesterfield Canal were Kingfisher, c10 Goldfinch & c8 Long-tailed Tits (Paul Rigg).

12th November Single Short-eared Owl at Thurcroft Pit Top today (John Ward).

11th November Quiet at NAPT in the mist with 9 Pied Wagtail, 31 Goldfinch, steady passage of Fieldfare in groups of 20-30, Kingfisher, Lesser Redpoll & 11 Grey Partridge. Along Rackford Lane to Dewidales were 20+ Yellowhammer, about 15 Skylark, lots of Redwing and Fieldfare, 2 Jay, 2m Kestrel, 4 Mistle Thrush, and a few Linnet (Andy Hirst). Later that day were 14 Grey Partridge at Dinnington Marsh (Andy Hirst).

10th November At Langold Lake today were 105 Gadwall, 2m Wigeon, 36 Tufted Duck, 7 Great Crested Grebe, 6 Mute Swans, 366 Canada Geese, 60 Black-headed Gulls, 2 Common Gull, 99 Coot, 2 Woodcock ,6 Siskin, 2 Green Woodpecker, 5 Bullfinch, Grey Wagtail and Buzzard (Mick Clay).

6th November At Langold Lake today were 88 Gadwall, m Shoveler, m Pochard, 3 Wigeon, 7 Great Crested Grebe and Green Woodpecker (Mick Clay). At Thurcroft Pit Top a single Short-eared Owl , came out very late in almost darkness and a high count of 7 Kestrel. Shoveler still present at Langold Lake (Andy Hirst).

5th November Carr produced Little Owl and 3 Kestrel. At Thurcroft Pit Top were 2 Short-eared Owls, 3 Kestrel, Buzzard, 3 Snipe, 21 Redwing >S and 37 Fieldfare >S (Mick Clay, John Gallagher & Andy Murray). In addition were Woodcock & 7 Kestrel (John Gallagher & Andy Murray).

2nd November From a windy and cool Kings Wood corner this morning were a steady passage of Skylark, Fieldfare and Woodpigeon. Plus 17 Buzzard enjoying the breeze, including a very pale bird with a white upper tail, which will no doubt be reported as a Rough-legged Buzzard over the winter. Also m & f Sparrowhawk, 4 Tree Sparrow & 4 Yellowhammer. At Langold Lake were 44 Mallard, 99 Coot, at least 6 Great Crested Grebe, probably more. 83 Gadwall, 2ad, 4juv. Mute Swan, 6 Black-headed Gull, 22 Tufted Duck, 3 pairs of Wigeon, 21 Moorhen, 15 Siskin and c100 Jackdaw mobbing a Buzzard (out numbered). At Brown Bailey's were 14 Tufted Duck, 2 Mallard and 3 Coot (Andy Hirst).

1st November Along Woodsetts Road, North Anston today were 6 Long-tailed Tit, 2 Blackbird, 6 Skylark, 6 Redwing and 30 Rook. At Dewidales were 16 Skylark, Kestrel, 9 Tree Sparrow, 6 Blackbird, 23 Yellowhammer & 12 Chaffinch. Along Rackford Lane were 7 Blackbird, 7 Chaffinch, 4 Tree Sparrow, 4 Yellowhammer, and 38 Starling (Chris Lilley).

31st October Along Woodsetts Road today were Green Woodpecker & Reed Bunting. Around Dewidales were 3 Pied Wagtail, 17 Skylark, 50 Yellowhammer & 6 Tree Sparrow (Chris Lilley). Around Kiveton Hall Farm today were 3 Blackbirds (2m 1f), c20 House Sparrow. A t Axle Lane were 2 Carrion Crow, 6 Jackdaw, Lesser Black-backed Gull, 3 Black-headed Gull (over ponds), c20 Skylark and f Yellowhammer. In Bluebell Wood was a mixed flock of Long-tailed Tit, Great Tit, Blue Tit & Treecreeper (Paul Rigg).

30th October At Langold Lake today were 3 Jay, 3m, 3f Wigeon, Brambling, Little Grebe, Kingfisher, Green Woodpecker, 150 Fieldfare, 60 Redwing, 25 Siskin and 5 Goldcrest. Anston Brook held Kingfisher, 2 Reed Bunting, Jay, 2 Buzzard and Kestrel. At Costhorpe a Yellow-legged Gull (John Gallagher & Mick Clay).

28th October Single Ring-necked Parakeet this morning >W over the allotments at Laughten en le Morthen (Nigel Butler).

22nd October At NAPT this morning were 17 Grey Partridge, 3 Bullfinch, 8 Pied Wagtail, 15 Redwing, 408 Fieldfare, 3 Skylark, 75 Rook, 2 Siskin, 24 Black-headed Gull, 4 Lesser Redpoll >S, 5 Meadow Pipit, 8 Lesser Black-backed Gull and a Greater Black-backed Gull >S, 3 Reed Bunting, a pair of Mallard, and a Buzzard (Andy Hirst).

19th October A quick jaunt around Langold Lake produced 38 Mallard, 109 Coot, 6 Mute Swan, 2 ad, 4 juv, one juv. seems to have disappeared. 6 Great Crested Grebe, Common Gull, 86 Gadwall, 22 Tufted Duck, a pair of Wigeon, 10 Moorhen, and 12 Black-headed Gull. On Carlton Lake were a pair of Wigeon (poss. same as Langold birds), 9 Mallard, 2 Coot and a Heron (Andy Hirst).

16th October Late afternoon at Axle Lane, produced a Stonechat on the wall (Mick Clay). At Thorpe Salvin were 2 Buzzard, 10 Yellowhammer and m Blackcap (John Gallagher & Andy Murray).

14th October A quick visit to Axle Lane produced c20 Lesser Black-backed Gull on the ploughed field between the wall and A57, plus 20 Black-headed Gull, Buzzard, c100 Starling, c100 Skylark and 10 Jackdaw. In Bluebell Wood and the farm were a mixed flock of c20 Blue Tit & Great Tit (Paul Rigg).

13th October Early morning at Axle Lane produced 332 Redwing, 4 Mistle Thrush, 100 Skylark, 50 Meadow Pipit and a Lesser Redpoll >S plus Tree Sparrow >W. Also juv. Peregrine and 100 Golden Plover (Mick Clay).

11th October In gardens at Axle Lane today were 2 Redwing (Mick Clay).

4th October At Langold Lake today were 6 Great Crested Grebe, 7 Mute Swans (inc.5 juvs.), 75 Canada Geese, 2 Wigeon, 80 Gadwall, 1 juv. Red-crested Pochard and 17 Tufted Duck (Geoff & Lyn Facer).

2nd October At Langold Lake today were 2 Chiffchaff, Grey Wagtail, 2 Green Woodpecker, Kingfisher, 2 Jay , 4 Cormorant >S, 4 House Martin, and 9 Swallow. At Thurcroft Pit Top were Snipe, 13 Grey Partridge and Chiffchaff (John Gallagher).

1st October At Axle Lane were 600 + Skylarks >S and 2 Wheatear. At Kings Wood corner was a large movement of birds >S including Swallows, 11 Siskins, 17 Tree Sparrows, Skylarks also 3 Jays, 4 Cormorants and 100 Linnets, plus 12 Buzzard (Mick Clay).

30th September Red Kite over Sandbeck, from Kings Wood Corner (John O'Malley), plus c10 Buzzard, 2 Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and several Siskin, Meadow Pipit and Skylark >S (Andy Hirst & Mick Clay). At Axle Lane were 400 + Skylark, 17 Swallows >S and Wheatear (Mick Clay).

28th September At Axle Lane today were 4 Wheatear, 8 Golden Plover and 200+ Skylarks >S. Also in a South Anston garden at midday, a Hummingbird Hawk Moth (Mick Clay).

27th September At Axle Lane today were 3 Wheatear, 80 Golden Plover and 200+ Skylarks >S (Mick Clay).

26th September At Axle Lane were 5 Wheatear, 100 Golden Plover, 5 Greylag Geese >E and 2 Buzzard (Mick Clay).

25th September This morning at Axle Lane were Cormorant >N and Wheatear. At NAPT were 3 Chiffchaff, Whitethroat, 16 Grey Partridge, Willow Tit, 3 Grey Wagtail >S, 80 Goldfinch, 50 Meadow Pipit, 10 Skylark plus 9 Skylark >S, Whinchat and single Jay (John Gallagher).

23rd September This afternoon at NAPT were 5 Buzzard circling above plus Willow Tit and Whinchat (John Gallagher).

22nd September At Axle Lane a f Merlin hunting in stubble field before >E, 50 Meadow Pipit, 17 House Martin and 150 Skylark >S and Corn Bunting (Mick Clay).

21st September At Axle Lane were a juv. Peregrine with Woodpigeon and Yellow Wagtail >S (Mick Clay)..

18th September At NAPT this morning were 12 Robin, 55 Meadow Pipit, 14 Siskin >S, 7 Chiffchaff, constant steam of small numbers of Swallow>S, 19 Lesser Black-backed Gull >SW, 7 Reed Bunting, 23 Skylark, 8 Grey Partridge, Grey Wagtail >S, 28 Golden Plover >N, 4 Bullfinch, ad. Hobby >S, Willow Tit and Whitethroat (Andy Hirst). From Kings Wood corner were 20+ Buzzard and Sparrowhawk (Mick Clay, Andy Hirst, John Gallagher & Brian Chambers). At Langold Lake were ad. Hobby >S, 3 Buzzard and 76 Gadwall (Andy Hirst, Mick Clay & John Gallagher). Whinchat at Thurcroft Pit Top (John Gallagher).

17th September At NAPT this morning, 2 Chiffchaff, Spotted Flycatcher, m & f Blackcap, 5 Bullfinch, 2 Reed Bunting, Willow Tit, Siskin, 34 Mallard, Buzzard, 2 Grey Wagtail >S, Cormorant, 8 Grey Partridge and 8 Snipe >S (Andy Hirst, Mick Clay & John Gallagher).

16th September Curlew over Langold Lake and Whinchat at Dinnington Marsh (John Gallagher). At Axle Lane were Wheatear and 4 Whinchat (2 by the wall and 2 on the main path including 1 m) and 13 Curlew and Yellow Wagtail >S (Mick Clay).

15th September At Axle Lane today were 5 Wheatear and 2 Whinchat. Also 13 Buzzard at Kiveton Pit Top (Mick Clay).

14th September 2 juv Whinchat at Axle Lane this evening (Mick Clay & Andy Hirst).

Marsh Tit and Grey Wagtail at Dinnington Marsh. 2 Raven and 4 Buzzard at Brampton Common plus 72 Gadwall at Langold Lake (Andy Hirst & Mick Clay).

10th September Early morning at Thurcroft Pit Top produced Little Owl in Carr, Green Sandpiper, 24 Grey Partridge, 3 Lesser Redpoll, 30 Goldfinch, and Buzzard. Along Dinnington Marsh were 3 Willow Tit, 13 Grey Partridge and Siskin, plus several Chiffchaff. A constant stream of Lesser Black-backed Gull over Hodsock with 109 over and 114 in a field-the highlight an ad. Yellow-legged Gull, plus several Yellow Wagtail. At Langold Lake were 15 Mallard, 109 Coot, 74 Gadwall, 6ad & 2 juv. Great Crested Grebe, 3 Little Grebe, 2ad. & 5juv. Mute Swan, 13 Tufted Duck, Heron and 6 Black-headed Gull (Andy Hirst). At Brown Baileys today were 10 Tufted Duck, 6 Mallard, Kestrel, 9 Coot, juv. Great Crested Grebe and c20 Rook (Paul Rigg). At Gildingwells crossroads were 500 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 100 Black-headed Gull and 3 Hobby. Brampton Common produced Peregrine >W (John Gallagher).

8th September Still 10 Wheatears at Axle Lane and 33 Golden Plover (Mick Clay).
At Langold Lake at noon today were ad. and juv. Common Tern, 12 Lesser Black-backed >E, 40+ Gadwall, Buzzard and 3 Little Grebe (Peter Gleghorn). 20 House Martin and 4 Swift over Anston (Chris Lilley).

7th September At Axle Lane today were 14 Wheatear by the hole in wall, also 38 Skylark, Corn Bunting and a good movement of Meadow Pipit, plus 33 Golden Plover (Mick Clay).

6th September A quick hour at Langold Lake produced a good passage of House Martin >S, 59 Gadwall, 7 Mute Swan (2ad, 5juv), 2 Little Grebe, 6ad and 2 juv. Great Crested Grebe and a Tawny Owl (Andy Hirst).

4th September This afternoon at Axle Lane were 3 Heron, single Buzzard, Little Owl and 6 Wheatear (Geoff Facer). At Kiveton Pit Top were c20 Goldfinch, 10 Great Tit, 5 Swallows, 20 Jackdaw and at least 2 Kestrel (Paul Rigg). At Axle Lane were 5 Wheatear and Swift >S. At Langold Lake were 50 Gadwall, Red-crested Pochard, 6 Great Crested Grebe and 2juvs. with one ad. still on a nest, the other appears flooded out, 2 Little Grebe, 14 Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Willow Warbler and Spotted Flycatcher, Kingfisher & Cormorant (Mick Clay, John Gallagher).

2nd August At Carlton Lake today were 2 Shoveler, 20 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and a pair of Grey Wagtail (Geoff Facer).

23rd July At Carr today were 2ad Little Owls and 3 juv's in the farm buildings and at Thurcroft Pit Top were 11 Kestrel (3 families) and 5 Bullfinch. Hodsock produced 2 Buzzard. NAPT held ad. Reed Warbler feeding 3 juv's. and one feeding 2 juv's. In Harry Crofts Quarry was a single Green Sandpiper (Mick Clay).

22nd June A walk up Axle Lane produced 2-3 Corn Bunting, 3 Yellow Wagtail, lots of Skylark and 1-2 Quail singing, with one seen in flight low over the crop for 50m. Along the Chesterfield Canal was a Spotted Flycatcher at Cinderhill with food (Mick Clay, Andy Hirst and Andy Murray).

Carlton Lake held a pair of Gadwall & Heron. Reported from Langold Lake at 07:30 was an Osprey circling and taking a fish, which was also present on the 21st (the Osprey, not the fish!) 15th May In Lindrick Dale today our only Spotted Flycatcher. Thurcroft Marsh held a family party of Mistle Thrush (ad & 4 juvs.) and m Wheatear. Langold Holt produced ad & juv. Little Grebe, 3m & 2f Tufted Duck and a pair of Gadwall. Langold Lake had 2m & f Gadwall, Common Tern, 3 pairs of Tufted Duck, a pair of Mute Swans nesting. At Yews Farm Pond were 5 Greylag Geese with 18 juvs. A pair of Gadwall, 2 Mute Swan and 3 pairs of Tufted Duck (John Gallagher).

11th May Hobby's have returned to a regular site in SK58 (per Mick Clay and Bob Stevens). Also noted were a pair at site in the N of SK58, displaying (Mick Clay).

23rd April Thurcroft Marsh produced Jay, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Kestrel, Grasshopper Warbler and Cuckoo >N. Dinnington Marsh produced 2 Willow Tit, Goldcrest and Garden Warbler. Lingodell had 7 Yellow Wagtail (John Gallagher).

22nd April At Axle Lane were 2 Yellow Wagtail. Dinnington Marsh revealed 12 Willow Warbler, 3 Common Whitethroat, 3 Blackcap, Lesser Whitethroat and Buzzard. Mineral path to Thurcroft produced 20 Willow Warbler, Common Whitethroat, 9 Blackcap and 2 Lesser Whitethroat. Thurcroft Marsh held 7 Willow Warbler, 3 Common Whitethroat, Blackcap and Grasshopper Warbler (Mick Clay).

20th April NAPT produced m Whinchat, 2f Wheatear, Sedge Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat and 2 Yellow Wagtail >N (Mick Clay).

19th April Early morning at Axle Lane m & f Wheatear plus Willow Warbler singing in a South Anston garden (Mick Clay). Axle Lane held 3 Wheatear. Harry Crofts produced 2 Common Whitethroat, 7 Wheatear, 2 Little Ringed Plover & 2 Green Sandpiper (John Gallagher).

17th April This evening (20:30), Little Owl on the A57 at South Anston towards Todwick, sitting on the public footpath sign (Nigel Butler). At Kiveton Pit Top were 14 Willow Warbler, m Wheatear, Buzzard and 2 Whitethroat. At Red Lane Carlton were 200 Sand Martin and 4 Buzzard. Kings Wood produced 12 Buzzard, and 5 Sparrowhawk. Very high over Hawks Wood were Buzzard and Goshawk, which drifted high >S (Mick Clay).

16th April At NAPT were 7 Willow Warbler, 3 Chiffchaff, 2 Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap, 6 Reed Bunting, Willow Tit, 3 Sand Martin and 7 Swallows >N, Sparrowhawk, Ringed Plover, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 18 Lapwing and Curlew >N. At Dinnington Marsh were 9 Willow Warbler, 2 Chiffchaff, 2 Tree Sparrow and Buzzard. Brampton produced a further 3 Buzzard (Mick Clay).

15th April Early morning at Axle Lane were Corn Bunting on the wall and m Yellow Wagtail (Mick Clay). At Tommy Flockton's Marsh today were 2 Grey Partridge, 2 Pied Wagtail, 4 Lapwing, 2 Snipe, f Wheatear, 4 Greylag Geese >N, Great Spotted Woodpecker & Green Woodpecker. NAPT produced 3 Little Ringed Plover & Ringed Plover (John Gallagher). Tommy Flockton's Marsh also produced Green Sandpiper, 4 Lapwing, 2 Grey Partridge and Kestrel (Brian Chambers).

14th April Kiveton Pit Top held a Whitethroat (Brian Chambers). At Harry Crofts Quarry were 2 m and 1 f Wheatear, Whitethroat, Buzzard and 2 Little Ringed Plover. Also in garden today singing Willow Warbler (Mick Clay).

The Old Pit Yard, Langold held Kestrel and Green Woodpecker, 4 Buzzards circling over Hodsock, single Buzzard over Scott's Farm and 1 over Letwell (6 in total). Langold Lake held 5 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Gadwall, 8 Tufted Duck and a Common Sandpiper on the first raft (Alan Bradford).

6th April At Kiveton Pit Top were f Merlin >N, Yellow Wagtail that the Merlin attempted to catch, Buzzard, 4 Willow Warblers , 2 Chiffchaff, 19 Stock Dove and 3 Swallow >E. At Harry Crofts were 5 Wheatears and Buzzard. At Penny Piece Barn Owl and Blackcap (Mick Clay).

5th April Tommy Flockton's Marsh held 5 Gadwall & Great Spotted Woodpecker. NAPT held 3 Little Ringed Plover. Brown Bailey's produced 30+ Sand Martin, 2 Great Crested Grebe & 14 Tufted Duck. Nearby Langold Lake held Just a single pair of Great Crested Grebe, one bird on the nest, plus 3 Sand Martin & f Goosander (Brian Chambers).

4th April At Thurcroft Pit Top today were 4 Wheatear (3 m& 1 f), 14 Fieldfare, 2 Blackcap and 2 Chiffchaff. Brampton Common held 3 Buzzard circling (Brian Chambers).

An RDOS walk along the Chesterfield Canal produced Green Sandpiper, 10 Fieldfare, Buzzard and drumming Great Spotted Woodpecker between Kiveton Park Train Station and Thorpe Bridge. By Hawks Wood were 2 Goldcrest, Greylag Goose > NW, 2 Buzzard, 2 Nuthatch & 28 Fieldfare. By Old Spring Wood were 3 Goldcrest, 2 Willow Tit and Siskin (RDOS per Duncan Bye). At Langold Lake were 6 Great Crested Grebe plus 2 nests, 17 Gadwall, Goosander, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker and 12 Siskin. Over South Anston were 3 Buzzard (Mick Clay).

12th March On Thurcroft Pit Top today were Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Green Sandpiper, 10 Meadow Pipit, 10 Reed Bunting, 11 Skylark, 4 Siskin, 2 Lapwing, Snipe, 2 Song Thrush and 700 Golden Plover over. In the Harry Crofts area, were 5 Buzzard, 30 Meadow Pipit, 2 Little Owl, 40 Fieldfare and f Sparrowhawk. Brampton Common produced 3 Buzzard, Kestrel, 9 Snipe, 9 Lapwing, 2 Red-legged Partridge (John Gallagher). A pair of Brambling coming to feeders in Carver Drive, Dinnington (Les Coe). At Brampton Common were 8 Snipe, 1 Jack Snipe and 2 Buzzard (Mick Clay).

11th March In a Langold garden were 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 Siskin, 6 House Sparrow, 2 Tree Sparrow, 2 Blue Tit, 2 Great Tit, 10 Starling, 4 Blackbird, 4 Chaffinch, Robin plus single Collared Dove, Greenfinch, Mistle Thrush and 3 Long-tailed Tit (Pauline Bradford).

7th March At Brampton Common, in the field adjacent and west of the fishing ponds today were 10 Snipe, 9 Mallard and 3 Teal (Brian Chambers).

6th March At Lingodell were 3 Sparrowhawk and at least 22 Buzzard displaying. At Carlton Lake a single f Goosander. Yew Farm, Lingodell were 23 Greylag Geese & single Pink-footed Goose (John Gallagher). At Carr were 3 Buzzard, 70 Fieldfare, 10 Redwing, 2 Little Owl and 28 Tree Sparrow (John Gallagher & Andy Murray). On Common Road were Little Owl. At NAPT wader scrape were 19 Mallard, 33 Lapwing, 2 Stock Dove & 2 Pied Wagtail (Geoff & Lyn Facer).

4th March At NAPT were 21 Lapwing were spooked by a Peregrine hunting around the scrape (John Gallagher). In Anston Stones Wood were 10 Blackbird, 32 Rook, 3 Nuthatch, 12 Chaffinch, 4 Treecreeper, 16 Blue Tit, 2 Bullfinch, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, and 20 Pied Wagtail (Chris Lilley).

15th February 24 Waxwing in the garden of the bungalow opposite the Venus restaurant, Dinnington. Then flew into the tall trees by the vets at 14:00 (John Ward). Still present at 14:30 (Dave Thornley).

14th February At NAPT today were Buzzard, 5 Lapwing and 8 Siskin towards Limelands (Dave Thornley). 16 Waxwings on Park Avenue, Dinnington at 14:00, before >E towards Swinston Hill Road (Mick Clay). F Peregrine >S over Throapham at 14:15 (Andy Hirst).

13th February A wet and miserable Thurcroft Pit Top produced little this morning, save for 30 Linnet, 4 Reed Bunting, single Skylark, 6 Lapwing, Lesser Redpoll and 2 Grey Partridge. At NAPT two dogs running riot around the scrape didn't help, but 2 Golden Plover over. Dip of the year were 7 probable White-fronted Geese >SW observed distantly from NAPT-if the observer had seen them 10 seconds earlier.... 2 Grey Partridge on the scrape, here 7 Lapwing had returned. 2 Teal flushed from Cramfit Dike. At Hodsock there were 10 Teal in the soggy area with 4 Mallard. Langold Lake held 18 Tufted Duck, 87 Coot, with 3 Nuthatch coming to feeders, Grey Wagtail, 32 Gadwall, 14 Moorhen, 42 Mallard, 3 Great Crested Grebe (inc.1 pair nest building), 12 Siskin and a pair of Mute Swan. Nearby Carlton Lake held a pair of Goosander, 2 Teal, 2 Mallard and 6 Coot (Andy Hirst).

16th January The ice finally dissipated at Langold Lake today, attracting an agitated Barnacle Goose, 58 Coot, 28 Mallard, 134 Canada Geese, 188 Black-headed Gull, a pair of Mute Swan, single Great Crested Grebe, 56 Gadwall, 14 Moorhen, single m Pochard, Common Gull & Buzzard. At Lingodell were 36 Common Gull, feeding in a field with 30 Black-headed Gull. At Kings Wood were Marsh Tit and at least 3 Brambling. 14th January 46 Fieldfare at Dewidales today, plus 50 Linnet. In Anston Stones Wood were 13 Great Tit, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 12 Starling, 4 Treecreeper and 2 Bullfinch (Chris Lilley).

13th January At Langold Lake this afternoon (still 75% frozen) were 6 Long-tailed Tit, 12 Blackbird, 2 Buzzard, 40 Gadwall, 70 Coot, 20 Moorhen, 26 Tufted Duck and 2 Goosander (Alan Bradford).Cormorant >N over NAPT (Nigel Butler).

12th January 48 Black-headed Gull and 4 Grey Partridge by the scrape at NAPT today (Geoff Facer).

11th January At Thorpe Salvin Sewage Works were c20 Lesser Redpoll. Hewett Arms pond held 27 Mallard & 4 Heron. Carlton Lake produced 3 pairs of Goosander. Whilst at Langold Lake which was at least 90% frozen, were 86 Coot, 42 Mallard, 16 Gadwall, 6 Tufted Duck, 14 Moorhen & 2 Mute Swan (Brian Chambers).

10th January Along the Chesterfield Canal between Kiveton & Hawks Wood were 24 Long-tailed Tit, 2 Coal Tit, 2 Marsh Tit, 14 Blue Tit, 3 Great Tit, 1 Treecreeper & 6 Bullfinch. Between Kiveton & Norwood tunnel were 9 Bullfinch. Tommy Flockton's Marsh held 28 Mallard, with Buzzard & Sparrowhawk over (Brian Chambers).

9th January By the Chesterfield Canal at Hawks Wood were 18 Lesser Redpoll & 150 Pink-footed Geese >E at 11:35 (John Gallagher). At Lingodell were 2 Golden Plover, 72 Fieldfare, 4 Redwing. A f Brambling at Kings Wood Lane. Also large numbers of Redwing & Fieldfare at both Thwaite House Farm and Lamb Lane (Geoff & Lyn Facer).

8th January At Tommy Flockton's Marsh today were 2 Teal, 30 Mallard, m Mandarin, 12 Gadwall, 20 Moorhen & Lapwing. At Kiveton Pit Top were 250 Fieldfare, 45 Redwing, f Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Buzzard, 2 Snipe, 25 Black-headed Gull, 2 Goldcrest & Song Thrush (John Gallagher). At Roche Abbey today were 5 Buzzard, Cormorant, 30 Pheasant, 9 Mallard, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 Nuthatch, 2 Kestrel, 2 Treecreeper, 3 Jay, 2 Siskin, 2 Marsh Tit, and 10 Long-tailed Tit (Duncan Bye).

7th January At NAPT the Water Rail close to the bridge adjacent to sewage works (John Gallagher). 150 Pink-footed Geese >N over South Anston this morning (Andy Murray).

3rd January At the corner of Kings Wood Road & Eastfield Lane were 2 Brambling with c25 Chaffinch feeding in a patch of maize (Brian Chambers).

2nd January At Axle Lane a Peregrine took a Woodpigeon, which was robbed by 2 Buzzard. At NAPT a Barn Owl hunting at dusk (John Gallagher & Andy Murray). At NAPT the Water Rail showing well in a ditch by Cramfit Pond and Brambling >N (Mick Clay).

31st December Langold Lake remains mostly frozen, despite this; 2m & 1f Pochard, 1m Shoveler & 1 pair of Gadwall present. Also Tawny Owl calling from western end. At Firbeck were 230 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag Goose & 1 Green Woodpecker (Geoff & Lyn Facer). Further counts at Langold Lake produced 60 Mallard, 85 Coot, 11 Moorhen, m Shoveler 2 m& 1 f Pochard, 2 Mute Swan, 3 Nuthatch, 3 Siskin. Plus lots of Rook, Crow & Jackdaw, c 400 in total. Woodpigeon c400 (Brian Chambers).

30th December 260 Pink-footed Geese W> over Dinnington at 15:00 (John Gallagher), with a further 150 >NW over South Anston at 16:15 (Mick Clay).

Wigeon John Gallagher28th December 2 & 9 Waxwings briefly at Throapham this morning, singles heard later in fog, plus Brambling over (Andy Hirst).

27th December Langold Lake produced 100 Greenfinch, 6 Brambling, 2 Lesser Redpoll, 5 Coal Tit, 7 Nuthatch, 5 Treecreeper, 7 Goldcrest, Jay, 3 Green Woodpecker, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker and 2 Buzzard. At Thwaite House Farm Pond were 5 Snipe & 9 Red-legged Partridge (John Gallagher).

24th December In Lindrick Dale were 18 Tufted Duck, 16 Mallard, 3 Little Grebe, 4 Gadwall, 10 Moorhen and 9 Coot. On the Chesterfield Canal at Turnerwood were 2 Jay, Kingfisher, Green Woodpecker plus Cormorant, Snipe & Wigeon (John Gallagher).
